I have sent you nothing but Angels (cit. N.D.Walsch) Painting

"I have sent you nothing but Angels" is a line taken from "Conversations with God", a book written by the inspirational and spiritual American author Neale Donald Walsch. It refers to the fact that all the people we meet are coming our way - and sometimes can be in our way! -, for a reason. Sometimes people bring us gift sometimes they bring us challenges, but the author (or God, for those who accept that the author might actually have had a conversation with God, for that's what he claims his books to be about) expresses the truth that whoever we meet is always part of a larger plan of Perfection of All that is: Life. And sometimes only much later do we see that those people we used to consider our "enemies", detractors and even persecutors did what they do for some (more or less possibly) understandable reason. Sometimes one has to stretch their compassion way more than usual to see oneself able to forgive and forget the hurts received. Sometimes it's much more clear that those "annoying" people we met in our lives were actually our best teachers: they taught us who we really are, what we really want from life, how we want to react and what does and does not belong to us, to our true self. "I have sent you nothing but angels" is a provocative thought which somehow rephrases that divinely human instinct of compassion towards the other, which more magnificently found expression in the teaching Jesus imparted us about "Turning to them the other cheek". I firmly believe in these high values. I painted this small prettiness with my fingertips, no intermediary brushes involved. It's mainly done with lovely tempera color, dense, thick and deep traditional medium. It pretty much started off as an abstract artwork, and as it came to life I realized figures were coming out. In the middle, slightly to the right-side there stood a man, a brown figure, quite miserable-looking, walking away on his road. He believes - I think -, he is alone in his life. Soon I realized this one was not the only presence crowding the scene, but several blue-hued ethereal beings were surrounding this lone walker: Angels. There's one, rather whiter to his left, one to his right, but slightly behind him and a few more which I invite you to find out if you will to explore my artwork and stay with me just a little longer. So, one day, I met during a trip, Neale Donald Walsch and during his seminar in the North of Italy, in a village by the Lake of Garda I could hear his words live, take notes, learn and grow. I was lucky to meet him, shake his hand, give him this original artwork as a present. I touched his left shoulder and told him: "Thank you for the big help you gave us." He received the gift and said: "Thank you, I'll have it sent back home. I'll have it sent. Okay?" I was delighted to hear that, and left the stage with a big smile.
