About The Artwork
This self-portrait traces the lines which are forming on my face as I age. I exaggerated these lines and the droopiness around the eyes and used dense colour to suggest the tensions, stresses and challenges I face as I enter this phase of my life. After standing back and looking at the lines that were forming, I recognized the familiar face of my grandmother looking back at me.
