About The Artwork

In the first place this painting is inspired by the artist's daughter, who dreams about being a ballerina. Then the subject set itself free from every personal reference in order to become the pure hopeness: the license of a destiny who hasn't been written yet. Delicacy, obtained by using pastel tones and acrylics, is the main feature in the tale of children's tender desires, which don't include our cynical reality. The artist wants to convey a sense of hopeness, a calm but firm willngness to recover our right to dream.

Marcella Porello lives in the italian countryside where she works as an executive in the fashion industry. Previously she had several experiences in different fields of arts; comic and cartoon's illustrator for "Lanterna Magica" in Turin, photographer into Michele De Vita's studio. She has been affected by endometriosis for many years now, which inspires her many reflections about the meaning of being a mother and a woman. Im her paintings Marcella expresses with sensitivity the struggles and the powerness of the female body. Many of her works involve children, childhood not only to represent freedom but also as a consequence of human love. She wants to explore the balance between feeling a daughter and being a mother. Marcella paints looking for delicacy into the confusion of her identity, which is very connected with the one of her family. As an artist she tries to translate her own personal story into a universal one.
