ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This piece is an exploration into the distractions we face in life. The thrill of buying something with a label attached and the illusion it represents that you will feel whole once you own it. And then the disappointment that comes after when you realize how empty you still feel. in the making of this piece there were a lot of fun and playfulness. I used acrylic paint, oil and oil stick as well as housepaint and pigment. most of the process happens when the piece is flat on the floor. in the end this painting is meant to be a playful reminder of not taking oneself too serious
