A conceptualization of the illusion of duality, i.e. the non-dualistic nature of reality as expressed by the Advaita Vedanta philosophy. Advaita literally means “one, not two”. Originating in India before 788 AD, Advaita Vedanta is widely considered the most influential and most dominant sub-school of the Vedanta school of Hindu philosophy and religious practice. Acrylic on salvaged walnut cabinet doors with brass Nepalese door pulls. The illusion of duality is represented by the reflection of the lotus flower in water, as well as the physical separation of the two diptych panels.

Venezuelan-born Michael Bond is a professional artist working in a variety of mediums. He creates visual expressions to inspire and connect people, initiate dialog, and promote awareness and interaction for all. "My work involves the creation of images that are visually interesting yet contain a certain mystery. My goal is to involve the viewer on multiple levels, encouraging an interaction with the work mentally, emotionally and spiritually. All of my pieces are autobiographical to some extent... what I feel is what is expressed, sometimes consciously, usually sub-consciously". "When I'm painting, there is no deliberate thought involved, and nothing else seems to exist for the time being. The result is often an uncovering of feelings and emotions rather than a covering of canvas. A show attendee once remarked: 'Most people paint what they see, you paint what you don't see'. I can think of no higher compliment." Michael's work has been featured in International Artist's Magazine's Showcase of Master Painters of the United States, exhibited at the corporate headquarters of Kraft Foods International and Young & Rubicam, and can be found in many private collections across the country. He is currently exhibiting at the Artisan Direct NYC PopUp Show at the Roger Smith Hotel at 47th and Lexington in Midtown Manhattan.
