ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Illusion. Is it about me or something I don’t know about? And do I have anything to do about it? Do I have anything to do about illusion? Do I have anything to do about its content? What if its content is… me? Do I have anything to do about… me? Oh, or that’s an illusion, too?.. What’s not, anyways? Where am I? Who’s talking? I think I am definitely somewhere here. Somewhere around. Let me just get focused. (Just tell me on which one of illusions :) Alright… I’m here. Back to work! :) From “A Right to Live” artworks series. “A Right to Live” artworks series. In this series, the artist seeks to explore a purely sensual side of our personal perception of the dramatically changing and distorting reality around us, while also examining the inevitable and spontaneous impact society has on this perception. The artwork shows the involuntary transformation our perception experiences as it is coerced by reality; from the initial supposedly “normal” state to some emergent unpredictable states. The paintings explore the way in which we transmit our common “senses of reality” to each other, and how, in doing this, we share with each other a new way of viewing the world. The artist wonders what role she plays in this transfer process. Is it possible to have any individual "right to live" or is life only truly lived through the framework of this exchange of perceived realities? The artwork in this series is vividly emotional, but does not convey any of the semantic components associated with the displayed "sensual side.” The artist leaves the meaning beyond, in the outside world, and transfers “strictly the feelings” onto the canvas. The artist shows restraint in her technique, often using a stern color pallet that differs with each piece in the series. The paintings are physically multilayered and have a distinct textured surface, which oftentimes makes them literally "convex." The painting has a heavy paint texture on the surface (a raised surface).
