ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Have always appreciated the look of those artists who create black on black paintings with texture so this is one of two that I did to explore this subject. I decided to add a splash of color to give the paintings more energy. This is heavily textured using modeling paste. The edges of the canvas are also painted so no frame is needed unless it is desired.

I was raised in a small rural town in north central North Dakota and was the fifth oldest in a family of seven children. Because I had artistic abilities, I was involved in many activities that required those skills. Everything from designing the high school mascot logo to painting sets for the drama department. Although I did paintings from an early age, I felt my direction should be graphic design. So as early as six years old, I knew I would have a career in graphic arts. My parents encouraged this direction even though we were very poor and they could not afford art school.
