About The Artwork

An all time favourite cereal when I was a child growing up in South Africa, fruit loops set a tone for my childhood. By the time it was my teen years, the cereal was no longer available in South Africa, now that I have a conscious approach to eating, I don't think I could put fruit loops into my body again. So this piece of art is “In memory of fruit loops”. Ingredients: Corn Flour Blend (Whole Grain Yellow Corn Flour, Degerminated Yellow Corn Flour), Sugar, Wheat Flour, Whole Grain Oat Flour, Modified Food Starch, Contains 2% Or Less Of Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil (Coconut, Soybean And/Or Cottonseed), Oat Fiber, Salt, Soluble Corn Fiber, Natural Flavor, Red 40, Turmeric Extract Color, Blue 1, Yellow 6, Annatto Extract Color, Bht For Freshness.Vitamins And Minerals: Vitamin C (Sodium Ascorbate And Ascorbic Acid), Niacinamide, Reduced Iron, Zinc Oxide, Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine Hydrochloride), Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin), Vitamin B1 (Thiamin Hydrochloride), Vitamin A Palmitate, Folic Acid, Vitamin B12, Vitamin D3.

Hello there! I am a South African born Illustrator and Artist, recently moved to Vienna for a new adventure! I paint without focusing on the “how” of doing art, instead, I indulge in the moments where I feel free from complexities and societal expectations. Most of what I paint comes from a spark during a conversation or is simply serendipity. I spend my time expanding my zoo and as I do so, I encounter conventions that I reimagine along the way - by playing with slight abstractions of colour, form and geometry - taking the idea of a zoo and creating my own interpretation. By doing so I reflect on what art is to me, it is simple and extraordinarily uncomplicated. These simple depictions are seen through each piece as a different animal in my “Zoo”. It is with a graphic, simple intention I aim to fully reveal what makes me happiest. And perhaps the chance to paint what makes someone happy is more of what the world needs these days. My personal art collection has turned into my happy clutter, as the line between apartment and studio becomes thinner and thinner. Creating art and spending time with my own imagination can be described as my personal euphoria, expressed in my art and everything I surround myself with. Bringing this out in everyday life and whatever I own or touch, be it my clothes, the ink I cover my body with or the art I create.
