In the Sunlight Painting

The paper that I decided to use is a very important aspect to the art. With it's texture and raw nature it feels very authentic. Each piece of paper is handmade using traditional techniques, in The Himalayas. The imperfections of each piece had to the character to the finished artwork. I used a mixture of gouache, pastel and acrylic to form this piece. Heavily inspired by landscape. I wanted this painting to concentrate on stripping back the interconnected tapestry of nature into simple shapes which evoke the feeling of calm experienced from being immersed in the great outdoors. The scene here surrounds a walled garden, with it's archways and different doors to enter.
