About The Artwork
Monhegan Island has been a favorite of artists for many years from the time of Rockwell Kent to the Wyeths. It's a short ferry ride from the mainland, but when you're there it feels like you're far away. This is part of a series I'm working on inspired by the photographs of Tom Kretsch in a book called Touching Maine. For me it evokes a happy, breezy and sunny day on the island far from the cares of the world.
