I was preparing a canvas outside, in my garden when a sudden wind gust sprayed the canvas surface with falling leaves. They landed as they wished, and I let them be - this is the foundation of this piece. Some of them I painted over, removing them after, and they became ghost images, traces of fall. Some decided to stay, and they are reinforced with acrylic gels and resins for durability. I used ground eggshells and latex for building texture, painting over them in washes of soft pastels in acrylic. Many, many washes. For accents, there is some sparingly used gold and silver spray paint, as well as beautiful shades of LA Colors Makeup palettes - I just love them for their rich colour (I did a lot of rubbing and massaging their magic into the rough texture of the canvas). All sealed with a few layers of non-gloss acrylic sealer.

Sides painted white. Ready to hang.

Poetry, music, rebellion, femininity, humour and wonder of my world reveal themselves in images, both soft and hard, always mysterious, always in layers of meaning. My stories emerge like flowers opening up their petals, one at a time, as I try to bring to light all the facets of a certain moment in time, of a beautiful memory. But in the end, or in the beginning, it's all about love. I explore painting as a connection to our human vulnerability, of which love is its ultimate manifestation. https://www.instagram.com/gone_with_chinook/
