ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This is a memory painting inspired by a recent road trip. The rain finally stopped and we could see the road ahead bathed in sunshine. I wanted to capture the contrast of shadow and light directly after a storm without concentrating on storm clouds - that feeling of elation you get when you know things are "working out". This highway is near Atlanta, Georgia, but it could be any highway representing a journey in progress. The work is painted in acrylic on canvas. When the painting is complete, I attach it to a 100% birch wood panel which is 1.5" deep. The panel has been stained a deep walnut brown to complement the artwork and give a finished look for immediate hanging. Of course, the work could be professionally framed if you prefer.
