About The Artwork
While I was travelling in Italy, I went to a local grocery store and was amazed at the variety of the vegetables, in particular peppers that were offered. They were so unlike the almost uniformly boxy ones usually found in grocery stores across North America. It made me realize how uniform and dull things in our culture are becoming. I made this painting as a reminder of the immense variety of vegetables that used to exist and grow here and how beauty and a simple pleasure could be found in such simple things.
