About The Artwork

Acrylic, ink and mixed media on canvas, stretched and ready to hang. Extremely thick in texture - multiple layering effect. Signed on the front. Sides are painted black. Inspired by the culture of Feng Shui and the incredible beauty of the Japanese sakura or cherry blossom trees, that bloom in many Japanese cities. Tokyo and Kyoto have many of these trees that symbolise success, prosperity and good health. This is why many Japanese families will have a picnic sitting under these trees during the few short weeks that they blossom. These Asian culture (Feng Shui) inspired paintings are painted with an 'under-painting' first, then 2 more paintings on-top, to give an abstracted background of bright colours peeping through. This is a common technique I use for these cultural Asian paintings. This large canvas painting is also a great painting if you are conscious of Feng Shui. For example: Bright red is used in the majority of the painting with also signifies luck, prosperity and happiness. The crane is one of the many emblems of longevity in Feng Shui. Also, strategically placed, a green bridge. In Feng Shui this locks the flow of water - meaning that wealth will be permanent. Finally, scattered throughout the branches of the tree are little strings of "pearls" that have been painted on. In Feng Shui, this Chinese lore believes that mother of pearl symbolises good luck and prosperity, meaning that it has the power to attract wealth to the person who owns or wears it. Sides of this painting are painted black. D-rings on the back with hanging wire, ready to hang. A Signed Certificate of Authenticity is included.

Over the years her style has developed from realist animal portraiture and landscapes to Fauvism and abstract expression, street art, graffiti, and impressionist. There is a distinctive bold use of colours with rich layers and textures that stand off the canvas.
