James Douglas Morrisona, known as Jim Morrison, born on December 8, 1943 in Melbourne, Florida, and died on July 3, 1971 in Paris, is an American singer and poet, co-founder of the American rock band The Doors, of which he was a member from 1965 until his death. Sex-symbol provocative with voluntarily excessive behavior, he became a true rock idol, but also an intellectual engaged in the protest song movement, particularly against the Vietnam war, he however does not claim any political idea. Attracted by shamanism, he is attributed a reputation as a "cursed poet" that his untimely death, in Paris, in poorly understood circumstances, transforms into a legend, notably as the founder of what is known as the Club of 27. However, the cult that his fans devoted to him eclipsed a poetic work of great richness that Morrison himself could consider as his main activity, at least from the summer of 1968.
