About The Artwork
This artwork was born from a real sad story happened in Italy in 2023: JJ4 was a mother bear that after attacking a hiker in order to protect her cubs, JJ4 has been killed by hunters for revenge, leaving the bear cubs orphaned. JJ4 was treated as if was acting with the purpose of attacking for the sake of it, instead she was just protecting her cubs. Technique: scratchboard It was a very slow and meticulous job because every single mark was made with a pin with which I engraved the black paint on a transparent plastic sheet. The artwork will be shipped with its own passepartout.

“Nowhere else does light come out with such strength as from the deepest darkness” I started as a child with drawing, as I imagine everyone does, when I seemed to have a million things to say and few words, then I moved on to restoration, sculpture, painting. Today the bulk of my work is in scratchboard, a slow and demanding technique, which allows me to bring the drawing closer to the sculpture while I engrave the layer of color on the transparent support with a pin.
