In the fourth journal painting I made I was thinking back to high school. I was homeschooled all the way through 'till college, except for one semester. I am an only child and I grew up on a street that had no other children to play with. My only interaction with kids my age was at church twice a week and at homeschool group. I reference the 2013 film Under The Skin in the painting and how, looking back, I felt like the main character, an alien, in the film. The idea of the journal painting is to make large paintings more personal and intimate, more enveloping. There is a lot of handwritten text that is just me journaling on the surface.
