About The Artwork

This piece of artwork is inspired by a regular visit to a small coastal village, to get this particular view point in the village there is a beautiful yet quite tricky journey with rugid outcrops, and many different colours and textures to experience on the way. I wanted to try and capture this journey within this painting. My hope is that the viewer will be able to in someway connect with this feeling of making a journey both with the use of colours, texture and feel of this piece. I build my paintings with layer upon layer using handmade combs, pallet knife etc... very often whole other paintings are hidden beneath, this is a process that happens until I am ready to stop and am happy for the painting to be finished. Sometimes this takes a very long time. I only use low or non voc paints, i also make and mix my own pigments which i collect from different areas i feel a connection too. Thank you for viewing my work.

Miranda is a Dorset UK based Artist where she works out of her home studio. She has exhibited work in the UK and has work in private collections worldwide. Born 1977 in the Cathedral City of Salisbury in Wiltshire, Miranda finished at Art College and went on to train as a Specialist Decorative Paint Finisher, this was to give her a good foundation and grounding in technique and discipline. Having gained experience in working with colour, using different pigments and materials, and learning many specialist painting techniques, she now incorporates this all into her artwork. Later returning her focus back to her love of art and painting, Miranda creates work inspired by her environment, the elemental colours, texture and organic shapes of the natural world, human nature, emotions, and the human form. Working layer upon layer to build up rich colours and textures to create depth that can draw you into the painting, allowing the viewer to indulge their imagination to find their own unique interpretation of each piece. Miranda endeavours to use natural pigments, paints and tools that she hand makes and is always experimenting with natural environmentally friendly alternative materials to use for her work. Miranda is always continuing the development of her artwork and is influenced by many people, but here are a few particular favourites: R.O. Dunlop RA (my Great Grand Father) Cecily Brown Jackson Pollock J.M.W Turner RA Barbara Hepworth Helen Frankenthaler
