About The Artwork
Under the canopy of leaves sparkles of light bounce. Damp and shady, it is a welcome respite from the heat. This work is an outcome of my studio explorations into fragmentation, and the desire to show the viewer what is happening on the usually hidden side of a painting. It questions what is the right side - the part I see when painting it, or the part that creates itself. This work combines the two in an explosion of emerald and lime greens. A truly refreshing talking point for any interior. Please note that bumps and ripples are an inherent part of the process. The artwork has a glossy finish and is complete with D-rings and wire for immediate hanging.

Artist Statement “When the paint is dry my work is just beginning”. The thought that paint could be capable of independence from the canvas has been the driving force behind Julee’s art practice. It led to her process of creating paintings on plastic waiting for the paint to dry before she removes it. The unsupported material has an inherent flexibility that allows Julee to investigate her interest in textile, collage, and sculptural techniques. Through cutting, layering, moulding, weaving, and gluing, each creation is the result of many hours of meticulous and detailed work. An artist since childhood, Julee holds a BFA (Sculpture and Painting) from Curtin University, Perth. She is also the author of the book Sculptural Secrets for Mosaic (Schiffer Publishing Ltd, USA). Her works can be found in collections, both public and private, worldwide.
