The Karoo is an arid, semi-desert region that covers a large part of South Africa across several provinces. It's best known for its sheep farming.This scene is near the town of Graaff-Reinette in the Eastern Cape. Like most of my landscapes, it is executed with a palette knife.

I was born in South Africa in 1959. I started working at the South African Broadcasting Corporation in 1980, at first as a sound engineer, but later also as a journalist, copywriter and cameraman/video editor. I started painting seriously in 2009. I work mostly in oils but also in acrylic. I prefer working with a paint knife in a somewhat impressionistic style. My subject matter are mostly South African landscapes and seascapes.
