This black and white portrait shows a ring-tailed lemur in a gesture that almost looks as if it is playing the flute or trumpet. It seems as if he wants to draw attention to something. Perhaps on the destruction of our nature - or in particular on the endangerment of their own species. The lemurs native to Madagascar not only suffer from hunting, but also from the destruction of their habitat and are therefore classified as endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). In the last 24 years the population has declined by 50%, which is due, among other things, to deforestation and slash and burn. (Source: German Primate Center) The picture was painted with silver and white ink and acrylic paint on cardboard and does not contain a hanging hardware. The recommendation is to fit into a floater frame. I donate part of the art proceeds to the World Wide Fund For Nature (WWF), which you support with a purchase.

Born 1979 in Frankfurt am Main, grew up in Neu-Isenburg. Influenced by both the Venice paintings of a William Turner and the action paintings of a Jackson Pollock, Veronika Scherer creates dynamic animal portraits, which open up a very own view of the wide range of our fauna. Mostly captured in the movement, every living being presents itself in its individual, special and unfortunately now often endangered way. The artist lives and works in Neu-Isenburg near Frankfurt / Main and donates part of her proceeds to animal welfare.
