"Kurent has a woman's face" Painting

?Every year at the end of winter in Slovenia, the largest and most unusual festival takes place - Kurentovanje, this is part of the history of the Slovenian people and an old tradition. The main characters on it are Kurents - demons calling for spring. They are dressed in a hat and sheepskin coat made of an inside-out sheepskin, ribbons, feathers and a mask on their heads. Cow bells on a chain around the waist make very loud sounds when jumping and dancing, with such noise the Kurents see off the winter. ?Kurent's costume weighs almost 40 kg and it is not visible behind the mask whether it is a man or a woman. If earlier it was believed that only men had sufficient strength to wear a heavy suit and fight evil, now it has become possible for women as well.
