About The Artwork

In the painting "Сhicken Ryaba" the artist in his own way reveals the meaning of a well-known Russian folk tale in a new way-now it is a symbolic translation of the biblical writings: the Grandfather and the Woman are the prototypes of Adam and eve living in Paradise. The Golden egg that their hen laid is a symbol of this Paradise: having failed to save the egg (which was broken by the mouse - the prototype of the Serpent), the progenitors of mankind were expelled from Paradise. A broken egg is Paradise lost. The hen Ryaba, comforting the old people ("Don't cry, grandfather, don't cry, Baba, I will lay you a new egg - not Golden, but simple"), offers them a new world - our earthly world, limited by time and space, entangled with passions and humanly imperfect. The picture shows the continuation of the story "chicken Ryaba". At first glance, it may seem as if the artist is mocking a folk tale, but by delving deeper into the symbolism of the image, you can actually see the continuation of the life of Adam and eve in the earthly world. Mockingly portraying chicken Ryaba fried, the artist shows Christ's sacrifice. Just as bread and wine are symbols of Christ's sacrifice for the salvation of the human race, so in the picture, Adam and eve, represented by their Grandfather and Baba, sacrificed the most precious thing in their life – the chicken ryabu, who gave them Paradise. A festive table with a fancy shape-an altar-is set for the viewer, and the Grandfather and the Woman themselves are sitting on the corner. A cat looking at the table symbolizes a stupid spectator who does not understand the essence of the victim - for him, it is only important to get a tasty morsel. Easter table attributes (cake, painted eggs) suggest a search for the secret meaning of the picture. The faces of the Grandfather and Baba are made in the iconographic style, depicted as the faces of saints. Their eyes are distant and impassive. To emphasize the tragedy of what is happening, the artist shows an angel: in contrast to the main characters of the story, it is written in an academic style - it has volume and shadows. In his hand he holds a cigarette-the angel smokes – so the master amplifies the absurdity of the action of the Grandfather and the Woman, saying that their sacrifice is not pleasing to God, this sacrifice is not accepted by God: he did not demand this from people at all. It is not a stupid blind observance of rituals, but faith and love - first of all, for their loved ones-that God needs, and love for the chicken Ryaba as a family nurse would be more valuable in his eyes. The artist emphasizes the absurdity of the old people's actions by the absurdity of the objects depicted - for example, a spring Easter cake on the table is next to an autumn bunch of Rowan trees. The angel turned away from the Grandfather and the Woman, lit a cigarette and contemplates the image of the blessed virgin in the red corner. He is disappointed, but has not yet given up hope of their remorse: life goes on, and this is symbolized by the girl on the windserf outside the window. The style of the painting is a combination of iconographic techniques: technical execution of the faces, bright dense colors, as in the ancient Novgorod or Pskov icon, thin lessirovki. The reverse perspective of the red drapery passing through the table resembles blood flowing over the altar, although in reality this reverse perspective is an illusion: the leading edge of the red cloth's bend is wider than the edge on the far side of the table. The absence of shadows emphasizes the decorative nature of the painting and the echo of the influence of iconography. In the first colorful layers, the artist uses modern acrylic, and details are written in oil. Through symbols, he brings to the viewer the idea of the absurdity of religious dogmas, offers to look differently at long-frozen traditions and their inconsistency with real life, and calls for love of one's neighbor and adherence to the original human values, which are so lacking in our modern world...

PARAMONOVISM is a project of a modern young artist Artemy Paramonov: 20 paintings that invite a new look at the everyday reality of Russian folklore and Indian epics, folk traditions and references to religious rites are embodied in elegant still lifes. Bright colors will instantly attract your attention, and compositions where every detail matters will make you look for a new meaning in familiar objects. Sensitive, do not like each other's canvases, daring combinations, bold color, philosophical form... all this PARAMONOVISM. Artemy Paramonov - contemporary young artist, whose style has grown beyond the boundaries of painting. Having received a professional education at the Moscow art school of applied art.Kalinina, Artemiy starts in his work from classical painting with a religious bias, remaining an adherent of decorative art. Developing as a master of ancient Russian painting, the artist not only perfectly studied the heritage of classical masters, but also managed to transform it for himself, bypassing, and sometimes breaking religious dogmas. Reinterpreting the philosophy of two of the world's oldest faiths - Christianity and Hinduism, Artemiy interprets established truths in a new way, penetrates into the very essence of the behavior and motivation of modern man, works with internal psychological blocks in an attempt to free himself from established stereotypes in society-because only a truly free person can create a pure work of art. In the old days, the artist showed himself to be a bridge between the divine and the human world. Today, its task is to take an old idea, transform it and re-present it to a person living in the XXI century. The world is constantly changing, and the perception of artistic reality by modern people is changing , and the artist must clearly navigate this changed world, be one step ahead of his audience, and lead them. Based on a solid Foundation in the form of Orthodox education in painting, Artemy creates a bold, modern, sometimes even pop art that incorporates American pop art and French impressionism, the splinter form and symbolism of ancient Russian art, references to philosophical and religious themes. As for the technological techniques of the master, which are the essence of "paramonovism", Artemy uses primarily acrylic: the basis of the paint layer is formed by dense impressionist fill spots.
