Kurt Donald Cobain (1967 - 1994) is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist. He formed the group Nirvana in 1987 with Krist Novoselic in which he is the left-handed singer and guitarist. Within two years, the band became a pillar of Seattle's burgeoning grunge scene. In 1991, the group met a huge success with their second album, Nevermind, which became one of the best-selling albums in the world with more than 30 million copies sold. During the last years of his life, Kurt Cobain struggled with his heroin addiction and, with his wife Courtney Love, was under a lot of media pressure. On April 8, 1994, he was found dead in his home in Seattle. He had shot himself in the head three days earlier. Cobain is described as an icon of Generation X. In 2014, he and his Nirvana buddies were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In 2003, he was ranked by Rolling Stone magazine as the 12th best guitarist of all time. He is also a member of the famous Club of 27.
