La Diablada Puneña is a dance from Peru, which stages the fight between good and evil. Good is symbolized in the character of Saint Michael the Archangel and evil by the devils who represent the seven deadly sins. From my point of view it is also a metaphor for life, our internal struggle about right and wrong. This particular painting is based on the experience of a close friend who did not know how to let go of a person and his struggle with wanting to be loved. At that time I was working on a portrait of this friend that in the end was covered by my version of the traditional mask of that dance. Each of us is dancing our own "Diablada".

I´m a peruvian artist based in Berlin. I was active as a graffiti artist since 1996 and one of the pioneers of street art and contemporary muralism in the streets of Lima. In 2008 I moved to Berlin where I have worked since then. I am inspired by the rich duality of cultures, both in hectic Lima and eclectic Berlin. My artistic work stands as a bridge that connects these two seemingly divergent realities, exploring the spiritual depth that unites humanity across the ages. Through my creations, I strive to break the barriers imposed by the canvas, challenging the divisions between the figurative and the abstract.
