About The Artwork

November 2022 - Exhibition "Transhuman" at Creators Gallery, Tel-Aviv, Israel April - Exhibition “What's next” at Talis Galler The future is impossible to know, but this painting reflects the ways in which our minds transcend the limits of time and space. It represents a future where death has been conquered and instead of mourning we are celebrating life. The painting invites the viewer to contemplate the future where people have finally conquered death. The figures are celebrating with a white skull on a tray, the generally accepted symbol of death, in the center of the painting. Thick, colorful threads of matter cling to him, while thin threads seem to be trying to escape from his grasp. All the matter tends to disorder from its beginning. It’s universal act of matter. Death comes at the moment when entropy wins. But human beings have an advantage of ability to regenerate. Regeneration is a war against entropy. Yet, all living beings ultimately loose the tug of war with entropy.

Ekaterina is of Russian origin based both in Tel-Aviv and London. She is a visual artist who specializes in Modern Art. Her practice includes oil, gouache, acrylic and mixed media paintings on canvases and paper besides any other drawing materials. Oil paintings provide an opportunity for her to convey physical sensations throughout visual image and material properties using a wide range of textures. She has been studying fine art since 2019 at Visual Art Center in Tel-Aviv, took numerous workshops with stars of Israel art science, from collages to contemporary art practices. Ekaterina participated in a great number of exhibitions in her short career, among others are Museo di Salerno, London Biennale. She took part in residencies: SpudWORKS in the UK and Transhumanisme in Israel. Ekaterina's exceptional interest lies in the area of portraiture, she paints faces of her close ones and strangers whom she meets in life with the sense of expressionism due to vivid brushworks and impressionisь employing color, along with self-portraits through the lens of the colours, shapes and textures. Inspiration comes from self-questioning and sharpening my intuition coupled with great artists of the past such as Chaim Soutin, Frank Aurbach, Cy Twombly, Nick Devereux. Her paintings are an invitation to the collision between beauty (harmony) and chaos, as well as, integrity and disintegration. Her works are mostly figurative. Ekaterina has created a new series of female portraits that feature intense, unique color and texture, and uses paints to create images of the world. In many of her works, she brings up the subject of violence and inequality against women through rough textures and irregular strokes. She invites spectators to be active and interact visually with tactile sensations, while at the same time visually representing the ugliness of real life. Ekaterina's works reflect the reality of women's position in society. At the same time finding great support at womanhood.
