La gran onda (The Great Wave) Painting

One of the most relevant themes in the history of art has been the study of space. Great revolutions have been reached such as perspective, which allowed the representation in three linear dimensions, surpassing a medieval vision of only two. At the time when artists abandoned the pursuit of mimesis with nature and physics conceived the universe as curved, the vanguards introduced the concept of the fourth dimension: space-time into modern art. The physical theory of strings presumes that space can be ten, eleven or twenty-six additional dimensions. Given this conjecture, imagining the inclusion of other dimensions in a two-dimensional medium such as painting represents a fascinating challenge. Looking at cities, the cube manifests itself as their matrix. In the face of the straight line, the curve acquires a relevant meaning; it is the minimum essence of vibration, the natural state of the universe. The proposal reflects on the balance of geometry in a multidimensional space that contracts and expands, reconciling linear structures with organic forms. Each fragment is an oil study with the white Titanium, black Ivory and brown Van Dyck palette.
