Published in "The Poetic Bond" Exhibits: Interworlding M.T. Burton Gallery Labor of Materiality dehumanization is man's favorite hobby stripping world down to its bare beating exposed heart creating more fetishizations to keep us bleeding The core of my personal battle Fighting off hands that have laid shame and doubt In a permanent structure Around my soul My confidence in my purpose must have somehow transferred over as “use me” My soft skin, delicate gaze, and provocative arches Must have somehow convinced you I was not able to consent I have never been deceptive in how I feel or what I want However, I have learned with my unfortunate exposure to sexual assault I am not a runner. I am able to speak. Even able to say no. But my legs, in a primitive statuesque manner, freeze Each limb a burden in time Wide awake Intimidated Insubstantial Still Doe eyed and objectified How many times can each body be the result of another's confusion Aggressive sexual impulses with no implications towards the actions They are choosing for you Bone-weary depletion This is not the only area where failures shines with glory in the Anthropocene But in my mind and in this body, Freedom from the constraints men have deliberately buried me underneath Is my uninvited passion It should be said though The mentality of the world The idea of it The structure around it All of it must change Racism, Classism, Sexism It must end These are the reasons for Earth’s early death These irreversible choices still being made are the examples The paths toward an abrupt and gruesome halt to life Soon there will not be gaps to fill or figure out Soon nothingness will truly mean nothing My dreams are filled with predetermined rain Breast milk poisoned with the toxins of it all I am desperately looking for a way out Where my freedom can flow can feel can exist without the partnership and suffocating reminders of past abuse I long for soil untouched by guilty hands As Someone Or something Or nothing With the entirety of everything lucidly An ideal state of femininity Where my navel is more than a hypnotic aphrodisiac And Earth is not man's slave

Blakelee Pieroni is an immersive media art creator. Her work involves blending original, large scale oil paintings with orchestrated, psychoactive content. She is a mover. Her subject matter begins in the body before any permanence is established. Drawing on the inevitable influences that structure and shape our mental human experience, she paints, with each painting standing for an individual cause. Life’s experiences and passions recur as themes within collections of work: Love, Despair, Nature, Culture, Posthuman Feminism, and Betrayal. Once a piece is created, the process is augmented and displayed over her paintings, creating an immersive reality for the viewer. Large-scale canvases reflect the materiality of mistakes and work in collaboration with new concepts to show the effort and complexities of human consciousness. Pieroni developed her sense of composition first through dance: exploring the dichotomies of movement and stillness, music and silence, light and dark, giving and taking, boundaries and abandon. She attended Marymount Manhattan for a bachelor’s degree in dance media, where she also trained in oil painting and photography. Pieroni began using these mediums in tandem to explore concepts and inform her work, and this method remains integral to her practice. Pieroni has twice choreographed for Marymount Manhattan’s Dancers at Work showcase and was placed in the top ten for choreography at New York Dance Festival. In 2019 she was commissioned by NYA gallery to produce a new body of work and was consigned with 1st Dibs Gallery and Gallery 104. Her paintings feature on custom leotards for professional dance companies made by From Artist to Artist and have been worn by company members of Ballet Hispanico and Martha Graham Dance. Pieroni held residency at at m.t Burton gallery and was recognized as m.t Burton Galleries artist choice for the 2021 season in Bay Magazine. In 2021 Pieroni exhibited her work “Safeguard” NFT at the Everywoman Bienniel Exhibit with Superchief NFT Gallery. This show was featured in Time Out New York. Currently she is in the process of launching her first 10k collectable NFT collection that serves as a running social commentary on current events. Pieroni lives and works in New York City.
