About The Artwork

In the IX region of Chile (Araucanía region) in the Vilcún area is the Conguillío National Park (it comes from the native-Mapuche "Ko-nqilliu" and means "Piñones in the Water"). It is a park of volcanic origin that is located in the middle of the Andes mountain range and is enabled for tourism under the direction of the CONAF (National Forest Corporation). In it there is a rich flora and fauna with native species, the ancient trees such as the Araucaria (tree from which the pinion comes), coihue, cypress, etc. stand out. In the change of season summer-autumn and only for a few short days the forest fills up with warm and bright colors that strongly contrast the green leaves that are still remaining, all this provides a chromatic spectacle that makes this park a unique place, being thus one of the most visited parks in southern Chile, rich in volcanoes, lakes and rivers. This painting was purchased by the mayor of Puerto Montt during his exhibition at the "Gran Hotel Vicente Costanera" in October 2014 at the group exhibition called "Oxímoron".

I am a Self-taught Painter and Professional Graphic Designer. I live in the south of Chile in the city of Puerto Montt, Los Lagos Region. My city is the gateway to the Carretera Austral that reaches the city of Punta Arenas along some 2,537 kilometers (after there there is nothing else, only Antarctica). My region is rainy, full of forests, rivers, lakes and fjords. From Pto. Montt to the south, Chile is another country, it is almost inhospitable rural, unpaved roads, lush forests, unexplored islands, with a very low number of inhabitants per square kilometer, which is why it is highly desired by adventure tourism. whose tourists arrive eager to see the glaciers and volcanoes that we can find from the province of Palena whose forest beauty is unmatched, such is the case that an American environmental businessman Douglas Tompkins built the Pumalín Park of more than 17,000 hectares and which today belongs to CONAF (National Corporation for the Protection of Forests and Renewable Natural Resources). In this environment I have lived all my life surrounded by the coldest and most intense green on Earth (and beautiful by the way). When I was a child I traveled a lot on boats that transported people to the many islands in the region and the boats were made by hand, they were very different times of much folklore and ancient traditions with towns full of legends and myths. Today much of that has been lost because the paradigm has changed and modified the different behavior patterns of different societies and cultures worldwide; Today we live in the Internet age. The phenomenon of Globalization presents us with new challenges, it presents us with a wide range of different scenarios, we are filled with curiosity to look at what is in the window, we are seduced by the idea of opening doors and discovering... but what about the cultural identity? ? Well, you have to preserve cultural identity and cultivate cultural tourism. Practicing a good breathing and meditation exercise we can maintain concentration, the center of the soul, and make the globalized world a friendly place and feel lucky to enjoy such a wide palette. of colors… Here in the South of Chile we have the “Curanto con Chapalele” (typical food, you cannot leave without trying it) and not to mention the “chicha de manzana” (traditional drink); if he came and he doesn't like it, he never came.
