Lavender Fields Painting

My time in Italy, my love of the Italian landscape, and the works of great artists such as Nicholas Verrall have helped inspire me to paint this scene. I hope that it can transport the viewer to a sunny place in their hearts, and that even for a moment they can experience the sensations and warmth of being there. For this artwork, I used acrylics. I have used them before, but not as much as oils. I have found them versatile, and quicker to use, so that I can adopt a looser style in my work, which may lead me in a new direction, and allow me to create many more such scenes. I chose to paint lavenders as my first venture into capturing part of the warmth of Italy. They are both colourful and captivating, as they beckon us inwards to walk among them.
