This work is inspired and led by over forty years of Buddhist meditation practice. In many ways I offer this work as an object, a sort of mirror so the viewer can see what ever they need to see on any particular day. It is also though, my hope that viewers might sense something calm and settled and perhaps even open hearted within themselves as they let themselves 'dream' into the work. I would like that the work brings the viewer some peace and some joy. And sometimes we have to see some other things that are in the way first....;-)

I've worked as an artist since 1975: painting & drawing, using ceramics, wood and fibre for sculpture, earth for permanent site specific installation, and video for live art performance and 'artist’s moving image'. I also write poetry and create mixed genre works. Whilst my materials and techniques change, my themes remain constant. I'm interested in the relationship between sexuality & spirituality, and how we hold and navigate life-death tensions of our existence. Born of mixed heritage and educated in New Zealand, Canada, UK, Europe, I’m influenced and inspired by diverse spiritual practices; Moire culture, Native American ritual and craft, Buddhist philosophy and Roman Catholic iconography. My 'Gratitude Mandalas' link closely to my personal spiritual practices of meditation, mindfulness and compassion. It is my hope that my work offers the viewer a place for contemplation, another perspective, some space to find clarity and ease.
