ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Painting: Acrylic on Canvas. I live in the Chaudière-Appalaches region, in Canada. I love this area where rivers, forests, plains and rolling hills, eroded by time meet together. I feel that theses gorgeous landscapes are what the region has best to offer. This is why I enjoy placing them in my paintings. In my own way, I present this part of the country with a fresher look. I wish to give rural areas a new lease of life. I love to paint living environments surrounded by flowers and greenery that provide peace and tranquility.

Biography I am a contemporary painter, born in Beauce, a beautiful county near Quebec, CANADA. A few years after getting my bachelor in commerce at the University of Ottawa, I undertook a self-taught artistic development. As long as I can remember, drawing and painting have always been part of my life. Attend visual art classes at school, was for me, pure pleasure. But I thought to myself that it was just a pleasant hobby, no more than that. However, over time, I realized that painting was a wonderful way to express myself. Since then, I dedicate myself entirely to this form of art. Artistic statement It is through oil, acrylic painting and pastel that I interpret what I see. I try to be both, expressive and intense without neglecting the harmony of shapes and colors to create a very pleasant experience. I live in the Chaudière-Appalaches region, more specifically, in Vallée-Jonction. I love this area for its rivers, rolling hills, eroded by time, and shaped by our ancestors. I feel that theses gorgeous landscapes are what the region has best to offer. This is why I enjoy placing them to the foreground of my paintings. In my own way, I present this part of the country with a fresher look. I wish to give rural areas a new lease of life. I mainly focus on the essential of landscapes. The work becomes a set of lines, curves and geometric shapes in bright, contrasting colors. The canvas becomes a playground for the viewer which brings its eye all over the scenery. I also present the country life. Using rivers and hills as background, I love to paint living environments surrounded by flowers and greenery that provide peace and tranquility. Painting gives me the opportunity to understand and observe life surrounding me and to communicate my reality as I perceive it by playing with light and colors.
