About The Artwork

Many of my works refer to internal landscapes made visible. This work was painted at a dramatic and extremely difficult time in my personal life - while the outside world also seemed to roil in chaos and negativity - and the colours could be seen as walls or obstacles, however they also vibrate with life and potential and the unknown. Blue of many hues and strong reds are recurring motifs in my work and symbolise life and passion or will for me. Typically my works hold artifacts and marks that look like doorways or arches - entrances to and from one space to another, symbolising decisions, journeys and leaving behind or finding new pathways. My hope for a large work such is this is that the viewer falls in and is lost within it for a time. I am most interested in what the viewer brings to the work and sees in the work rather than my perspective;my works with their strong colour compositions and mysterious structures often evoke feelings of joy and wonder in viewers. Being intrigued by my works without concrete thought is something I hope happens again and again to those who look at my works.

I am a painter and mixed-media artist. I moved to London in 2017 after 10 years developing my practice, showing my work and living in Italy. My studio is now located in the London N22 Arts District. I make abstract symbolist paintings and mixed media works. Organic shapes, luminous colour and structured compositions are hallmarks of my 'magical realism' works, while intense brushwork and tempestuous land-sea scapes reflect a different aspect of my practice. I have been deeply influenced by growing up in the Western United States and by my time and experience in Italy, as well as by classic modernists’ works and colour theory. Occasionally I take on commissions for large works. I am currently represented by AfterNyne Contemporary and the bowie gallery in the UK and Kobe Biome in Japan.
