Olenka Garmaziy (Olena Batchenko). Her work explores human presence through the body, gesture, movement and the spaces and objects surrounding it. Rather than depicting specific narratives or emotional states, she is interested in how the organisation of the body, the arrangement of objects and fragments of space can suggest tension, vulnerability and an inner condition.
Working primarily with acrylic, she combines simplified forms with visible layers, expressive brushwork and unfinished areas. Her practice focuses on the relationship between physical presence and psychological space, and on what can remain after a person has passed through a place. The human figure remains an important part of her work, while everyday objects and interior spaces increasingly become carriers of presence in their own right.
