Internationally award-winning artist Olivier Lamboray (b. 1968) is a Belgian surrealist painter known for his evocative, dreamlike compositions. Currently based in Germany, he has been painting since 1992, with exhibitions spanning Belgium, the USA, Monaco, Australia, Italy, England, Germany, France, Thailand, the Netherlands, Indonesia, and Guinea.
"Painting is my journey; it defines who I am."
Deeply rooted in the tradition of Belgian surrealism, my art reflects a lifelong fascination with the surreal dreamscape. Over the past 30 years, my travels—from the Himalayan peaks to remote islands in the Andaman Sea—have shaped my vision. In these timeless, isolated places, I explored the riddles of existence, facing my inner self, which profoundly influences my work.
My style blends classical techniques with surrealist elements—levitating objects, endless blue skies, and shifting realities. Each painting is a story from the heart: nostalgic yet hopeful, grounded yet defying gravity. I create worlds where the boundaries of time and space blur, inviting viewers to question reality, perception, and the impermanence of life. The interplay of visible and hidden layers reflects life’s transient nature, inviting introspection and personal interpretation.
