Life-size Julia butterfly Painting

This original watercolor painting is from my 100 day butterfly project. It was painted on Arches 300 lb. cold press watercolor paper, using professional watercolor paint. Butterflies are symbolic of transformation and hope. I thought about that a lot as I painted these during the hard times our world has been going through lately. They remind me that transformation is possible, and to hold onto hope, even when things look bleak. It was deeply cathartic to work on these butterflies during these last few months, and I hope that this collection gives you that same sense of comfort that they gave me.
