This painting was in my mind during the first 4 months of the pandemia of Covid. Many things and tragic things happen around me. And I felt very useless and powerless to help people around me that lost someone they loved. For months I stare at the white canvas and I was not able to start the painting. Yet, I knew what I wanted to paint but also knew it was impossible to create what I wanted to create. I thought about so many people that lost someone they love dearly. About the people that lost a mother, a brother, a spouse, a friend and mostly a son or a daughter. It is so very sad. How can I help how can I embrace their pain and let them know that I am with you all. I wanted to create a beautiful space, a heaven a paradise, though I know is impossible to create what really beautiful heaven is and I know I am not even close. But I tried with all my heart. So this painting is dedicated to all the mothers that lost their childs, to them I want them to know that we are light souls before we are born and we become light souls when we go to heaven, when we go to paradise, and guess what light is everywhere, it filters even in the darkest places of our lives, light is life, and even though this is sad, this painting was created to make you feel joy and loved even in this moments. I want them to know that our love ones are ok and they are with us in every single piece of light in the sky. in heaven in our morning in our sunsets, in our day but mostly in our hearts. Is a painting dedicated to all of us humans to remind them that we will be ok and that your love ones are ok and beautiful souls of light.

“I consider myself an expanding artist because we are always transforming. My work walks with me and changes with me.” Leticia Herrera is a prize winning Mexican- American artist who seeks to explore what it means to be human in her art. Painting mostly with oils and palette knife, she masterfully captures perspective in her pieces. She refers to the three dimensional oil impastos figures as “walkers”, describing them as travelers of the world and dreamers of life in search of unity and freedom. In search of Joy and peace. Conveying a sense of human vulnerability and a truthful hope. The shadows of her WALKERS describe constant movement, unstoppable, always towards the soul of human existence. Herrera is an experienced artist with works in private collections worldwide, has shown her work in important Museums in Mexico, and has received several awards. Herrera is a member of several Arts Organizations and serves in the Board of Directors of the Visual Arts Guild of Frisco. And has her studio North Texas USA.
