Like the Sun Painting

Born in Caracas in 1957. An integral Venezuelan artist, he began his exhibition activity as a sculptor in 1973, at the age of 16. The work of this versatile plastic artist is based on the technical freedom of languages ​​and genres, and the break of styles. The artist, in painting, as in sculpture 'passes indistinctly from abstract art to figurative art and vice versa'. Armas works with oil and acrylic on canvas, sometimes incorporating collage. With representation in: Museum of Contemporary Art, Museum of Fine Arts, National Art Gallery, Arturo Michelena Museum, Alejandro Otero Museum, Jacobo Borges Museum, Carlos Cruz-Diez Print and Design Museum and Celarg Foundation. He studied at the CEGRA Graphic Teaching Center for sculpture and engraving at the Ecole d`Art Decoratives, in Nice, France; of Graphic Arts at the Ecole d`Art Decoratives, in Paris, France, a grant from the French Government and at the Neumann Design Institute in Caracas. Performs an internship at the School of Fine Arts in Paris. Attend the workshops of renowned artists: Etienne Martín and Carlos Cruz Diez, in Paris. Course workshops with plastic artists: Antonio Lazo, Alirio Palacios, Edgar Sánchez, Luisa Palacios, Manuel Espinoza and Luisa Richter. He made the illustration of a book by the renowned writer Hector Mujica "Scriptures for a book of a Good Love", in the year 1978. They have written texts about his work among others: Carlos Cruz Diez, Juan Calzadilla, María Elena Ramos, Roberto Guevara, Víctor Guedez, Belgium Rodríguez, Laura Antillano, Milagros Bello, Lenelina Delgado, Lorenzo Batallan, Juan Carlos Palenzuela, Susana Benko, Carlos Silva, Federica Palomero. He conducts internships at the Cándido Millán Workshop in Caracas. He worked as a professor of Sculpture and Painting at the Federico Brandt Art Institute, of Children's Creativity at FUNDARTE and of Painting at a Private Institute of Basic Education in Caracas. He has given a seminar at the University Institute of Advanced Plastic Arts Studies Armando Reverón (IUESAPAR).
