About The Artwork
According to legend, the lilac appeared thanks to the nymph Siringe. The nymph really liked the god of the forest, Pan, but did not reciprocate him. And when once Pan overtook Siredu, but grabbing a beautiful woman, he found himself holding in his hands branches of an unfamiliar tree with bunches of fragrant flowers. Frustrated, Pan broke a branch and she made a sound that he liked very much. Since then, he always wore a pipe made of this shrub - lilac. And its name in Greek means "pipe".
