About The Artwork
This painting was inspired by the concept of a never ending horizon. The very nature of my paintings, with their multi-faceted textures, layers of fluorescent and acrylic paints, and thousands of light reflecting metallic crystals, create images and emotions that are limitless just like the horizon. While it is difficult to capture the beauty of this painting in a photograph, this painting as with all of my work takes on different visual manifestations according to the way it is lighted. Under regular lighting you see much of the gold and silver metallic dust along with more muted greens. When it is viewed under a black light however, the vibrant blues, purples and greens create a array of radiating beacons of light emanating for the focal point in the center, much like the focal point of the sun as it rises on the horizon. The purchase of each of my paintings includes a black light to help you enjoy the total beauty of my work.

Hello, my name is A. Dudley Buchanan. I am a self taught artist who works in mixed media and steel. First, a bit of history. I was born in El Paso, Texas, where my father worked for the railroad. We moved to California when I was one year old and it has been home ever since. I am a hyper-active dyslexic eccentric artist. We can review other quirky things about my character another day. I find it necessary to create art when I am in an emotional spectrum. My mind will always turn to making art and it is my coping skill. I try to relate to the real world through my art and freeze the moment. The raw emotions that are going on, whether they be happy or otherwise helps me get out what I'm feeling.
