If you stripped the planet of all its inhabitants, Earth would still “live". Earth is not just a vessel for life; the planet itself is alive. Thanks to its geological metabolism – and especially the dynamism of its tectonic plates – the world is habitable. On today's Earth, geology and biology go hand in hand.

I saw this relationship whilst observing the the abundance of life in around shallow pools where the sea meets the rocky surface of my coastline. From microbes to marsupials we owe our lives to the relationship of liquid water and a rocky surface.

With this painting belonging to my "Geology" collection I wanted to express the joy of being alive.

The painting is an explosion of colors, shapes and forms as if I had caught a fleeting moment in time. Dynamic, energetic and powerful, my colors and shapes dance around the canvas in a world wind of movement and speed. Just as the world is always evolving, we are constantly on the move and that means to be alive. Change is energy and all our actions cause change, nothing remains still and nothing lasts forever.

Marcos Terol is an international artist. His works ( oils on canvas ) present energetic movements of colours and shapes, projecting figures and scenes from nature. Focusing in his natural surroundings Marcos finds harmony and beauty in nature, figures and urban landscapes. His studio set in his home is on the Costa del Sol near the ancient city of Malaga. His home faces the coastline, washed by the Mediterranean Sea and nestled in between Andalusian white washed terraced houses and green pine trees. He paints at least 3 hours a day in his studio with brightly lit windows, facing his garden and the sea.
