London Approach- Drought Painting

This work is part of a series of aerial landscapes I completed. This is imagery from a trip to England. On the final approach to the London airport I was struck by the dramatic browns and tans of the drought-sticken countryside, and I also noticed the incoming cloud bank in the distance. In my aerial works, I am working with the idea that from above we can really observe the effects of climate and human activity on the land. The view can be both beautiful and sometimes disconcerting. Ultimately my work celebrates the resilience of nature. This painting is oil on canvas and is wired and ready to hang. The canvas is 2" deep, so the work can hang as is, or it can be framed. The image is painted around the sides of the canvas.
