About The Artwork
Oil on artists's canvas board. Continuing a series of works depicting soft undulating hills and mountains with some snow. This has more emphasis on naturalistic light and the sky as a source of illumination. Bare trees come in all kinds of colours and the red seemed appropriate and an alternative to brown and black. The work has been allowed to dry and has then had several coats of professional artist's varnish (see additional photos). The varnish has the effect of making colours richer and shows the hues of darker colours which can get lost if unvarnished.

I was a painter to begin. I started doing computer art in the late 70s, programmed at first but then evolving into a couple of strands of practice. Today the painting and the computer work interact sometimes, because of digital media I also retrieve and revisit old work when it merits it. Art theorists and historians tend to demand a kind of monotony in creatives' work, I lost interest in that kind of thesis a long time ago so I have fun and do what interests me, hence the range of styles and approaches.
