Longhorn beetle (asg00259) Painting

Although my love of flora and fauna is focused mainly on painting avian subjects I like to do a few insects and plants occasionally. This beetle is, I believe, a type of longhorn (referring to its antena) though it has stag-like mandibles and is one of a few longhorns that I have painted. My preferred style in my watercolours is a semi-realistic style, that I call loose-tight, usually against a plain white background. I like to capture some detail but prefer a degree of looseness that I feel appeals to bird-lovers, ornithologists or those keen to decorate their homes with colourful bird pictures. While many of my paintings are in A4 paper size I usually to paint on larger supports eg A3 or 34 cm x 40 cm, or imperial when I can get it. My watercolour paintings, made with top quality pigments, are sold unframed. My recommendation for framing is to have a 5cm matt, non-reflecting glass, and a simple black wooden frame. Owing to the covid-19 pandemic there may be a delay in delivery of artworks but I aim to ensure delivery time is minimised.
