About The Artwork
Have you ever visited the Lorelei? It’s a rock on the right bank of the River Rhine in Germany and added to the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. The rock and the murmur it creates have inspired various tales. In 1824, Heinrich Heine wrote his famous poem “The Lorelei”. It describes the eponymous female as a sort of siren who, sitting on the cliff above the Rhine and combing her golden hair, unwittingly distracted shipmen with her beauty and song, causing them to crash on the rocks. Heine’s lyrics were set to music by Franz Liszt. With this abstract I want to invite you to rest for a while and dream. Don’t worry. You’ll be safe from the siren sitting down there at the river bank. I’ve used different techniques to create space for your imagination to fly.
