My work is inspired by an emotion, love, and the expression of it through posture, here the leaning on the other, the trust and confidence to comfort the other. Laying your head on the shoulder of the other, letting go. My hope is that the viewer, when seeing this image, can relate, perhaps remember a moment like this, a precious moment, a person, someone they could feel could be in the painting. I often use black as a way to detach my subject from any physical space, so to leave to imagination the context in which the two subjects are. The other colors are a combination which follows previous paintings for the same series. My characters are up to the imagination, although I always see them as two women, and I have portrayed them with generous curves, as I find them beautiful and harmonious. I cannot help but think i was inspired by Niki de Saint Phalle and her Nanas.
