Low -Team DB Painting

The album 'Low' and the image on the cover inspired me to paint this. I loved David Bowies alien-like blonde with white two tonned hair colours and his pale face. I used an azure pale blue Ingres paper to give his face that eerie image which shines through the pastel. His coat collar turned up seems to describe him as someone who wants to disguise his presence althought his image, his hair and face shout out out that im different and i want your attention. His lips and the eye brow, his cheek bones too portray him as someone ahead of his time, an alien or human of a future time stuck in the 1970s, i liked that, i still do. In my opinion his last Album and its tracks repeat these same subliminal messages- i'm of another time. I hope the viewer will see a genius of music, film and a leader of fashion who influenced many others to dare to be different and explore lifes colours and not be bound by convention. I chose Pastel because of its immediacy, its vibrancy as it strikes the paper and yet it can be dulled and smoothed to give a subtleness if its rubbed. And of course the ingres paper has a tooth which catches the chalkyness of the soft pastel and allows the tooth of dimpled to show through. I luv to leave some of the paper showing through as its past of the painting not to be obliterated by the paint but incorporated, included. .
