Sasha Zaitsev is a Paris based artist, who was born and grew up in Ukraine. After having completed her studies in Donetsk College of Plastic arts, she moved to Paris in order to study the theory and practice of fine arts in Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne University. The essential focus of her works is based on psychology and metaphysics. Very often the subject of her paintings is some mental disorder, like depression, depersonalization or melancholia. The big influence on Sacha’s art had the beginning of the civil war in the East of Ukraine in 2014. The sensation of loosing the past and the fear of fate provoked a need to express oppressive emotions: this is how Sacha's black and white melancholic style was created. The combination of Surrealism with Op art recreates absorbing feeling of mental illness and its detachment from reality. The versatility of the picture gives a liberty of imagination for the spectator and makes this art personal for everyone.
