About The Artwork

Reef Protector by Stuart Greenfield Acrylic on canvas 40x50cm March 2022. Reef Protector is owned by Hugh Brown and left Cowes in March bound for Mozambique where the ship will become the research vessel for his WIORI ( West Indian Ocean Research Initiative) project to protect and understand the Indian Ocean Marine life off the coast of Mozambique where he manages one of the countries largest protected nature reserves. The 6 week passage will take the ship via the Canaries and St Helena before stopping in Cape Town for a full refit in advance of her new life as a research ship. Reef Protector is built as an ice breaker and has a varied and exciting life - built in wood she is an exceptional capable ship and a very stable platform for scientists , divers and engineers to work from.
