About The Artwork

Another pouring experiment gone fishy! Yes one of my fabourite ways to spend down time is fishing in northern ontario lakes. Although not intentional, it may or may not resemble a mackerel ( I am not sure, since I have never caught that species), but it somehow reminded me of one and this reminded me of Joe Bowen - color for Toronto Maple leafs hockey. Love his voice when I am on route to a TV to catch the games - sadly missed during this covid crisis. Remember I said hockey is a big part of me.... :)) Poured acrylic with some shape molding with a pallette knife. Love the juicy colours and flow in this one. Go Leafs! The back of the canvas is signed and dated. (The front of this one will be signed before delivery.....)

Art to me, is just a subset of the rest of life. A balancing act between working hard and challenging yourself and having fun with the outcomes. Art usually reveals the inner workings of the artist. For me I have quite a wide range of interests and subject matter that I want to “cover”. I like experimenting with mediums, and even pushing the boundaries a bit. But I also like to go back to basics and compare myself to other classics, to gauge my abilities. I LOVE art, because of the mysterious way it moves us and evokes all sorts of emotions. I love trying to find that magical element that turns an abstract into something we like. Why do we like it? Why do we like those colours? Why do our tastes differ? Solving and manipulating these dilemma's is part of the fun. What makes a great painting of nature. I think the answer to these questions is elusive and changes with time. My tastes in art have refined since I have become an artist, and started to ask questions... My art represents my interests. So my subjects are the "usual ones", but maybe with a focus on nature, sports, and movement. This is evolving (with my push into abstracts), and I am not sure where it will lead, but that is the fun part…. I hope the viewers enjoy and maybe even support my efforts. Thank you for viewing.
